At RL Remodeling, every project follows a proven 6-step design-build process that has been refined over decades of experience and hundreds of successful projects across Southern California. 1

Free Consultation

We start with a complimentary in-person or virtual consultation. Your dedicated Project Manager visits your home, discusses your vision and goals, takes measurements, and provides an initial overview of scope, timeline, and budget. No obligation, no pressure.

2

3D Design & Planning

Our design team creates detailed 3D renderings of your project so you can visualize the finished result before any work begins. We work with you to choose materials, finishes, colors, and layouts - refining the design until it's exactly what you want.

3

Proposal & Contract

Once the design is approved, we provide a detailed, itemized proposal covering every aspect of the project - materials, labor, timeline, and costs. There are no hidden fees. Once you approve, we'll schedule your project start date.

4

Permits & Approvals

We handle all permitting, engineering, and city plan submissions. Our team is experienced with building codes and regulations across all four counties we serve. You don't have to visit city hall - we manage the entire process.

5

Construction

Our licensed crews begin work on your project with your Project Manager overseeing every phase. We maintain a clean job site, provide regular progress updates, and ensure all work meets or exceeds building codes. Quality is never compromised.

6

Final Walkthrough & Handover

Upon completion, we conduct a detailed walkthrough with you to review every element of the finished project. We address any final punch-list items, clean the site thoroughly, and hand over your beautifully transformed space. All work is backed by our warranty.

Why Design-Build?

Traditional remodeling requires hiring separate architects, designers, and contractors - each with their own timeline, budget, and communication style. The design-build approach combines everything under one roof. RL Remodeling manages design, permitting, and construction as a single team, which means:

  • One point of contact - your dedicated Project Manager
  • Faster timelines - no waiting for handoffs between separate firms
  • Accurate budgets - the team designing your project is the same team building it
  • Fewer surprises - integrated planning catches issues before construction begins
  • 3D visualization - see your finished space before a single wall is touched

Every project includes: Dedicated Project Manager, professional 3D design, full permitting, licensed and insured construction crews, regular progress updates, final walkthrough, and warranty coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a typical remodeling project take?

Timelines depend on scope. A bathroom remodel may take 4–8 weeks, a kitchen remodel 8–12 weeks, and a full house remodel or new construction 4–8 months. Your dedicated Project Manager provides a detailed schedule during your free consultation.

Do I need to move out during the remodel?

It depends on the project scope. For kitchen or bathroom remodels you can usually stay in the home. For full house remodels or major construction, we'll discuss logistics during the planning phase and help coordinate timing.

How does the 3D design process work?

Our design team creates a detailed 3D rendering of your project using professional software. You'll see exactly how your space will look before construction begins. Revisions are included so we can refine the design until you're completely satisfied.

Will RL Remodeling handle permits and inspections?

Yes. As a licensed design-build contractor, we handle all permitting, city plan submissions, and inspections. Our team is experienced with building codes across Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Barbara.

What happens if unexpected issues arise during construction?

Your Project Manager communicates any unforeseen conditions immediately and presents options with transparent pricing before proceeding. There are no hidden surprises - you approve every change before work continues.

Can I make changes during the construction phase?

Yes, changes can be accommodated through a formal change order process. Your Project Manager will outline the cost and timeline impact of any changes so you can make informed decisions.
